For years, I’ve been… well, tinkering. And learning. And occasionally, saving myself a lot of frustration (and money!) by figuring things out for myself. I work in technology – specifically, at Microsoft – and that environment constantly fuels a desire to understand *how* things work, not just *that* they work.
Over the years, friends and family have gradually become part of my informal support network for everything from setting up a new iPhones (“Grandma, let me show you how to actually *use* those emojis…”) to more involved projects. I’ve found an enormous amount of satisfaction in helping others navigate their tech challenges, and even their occasional deep dive into hardware and BYO!
I’ve recently decided to explore a new outlet for this passion: creating educational content. The idea isn’t to be a polished production or a how-to guru. Rather, this is intended to be a space where I can document the things I’ve learned – and continue to learn – while tackling different projects.
What will this look like? Probably a bit eclectic! I envision sharing guides and insights on a range of topics, from troubleshooting common technical issues (like audio problems on Linux distributions) to more hands-on endeavors (wiring up a smart-home, replacing a well pump pressure regulator, or even getting started with Azure). I’m hoping to bridge the gap for those who might find technology and DIY intimidating, explaining complex concepts in a more approachable way.
I’m excited (and a little nervous!) to see where this goes. I’ll be approaching this as a learning process – both in terms of the content I create and the medium itself. Feedback is very welcome.
Happy New Year! Here’s to wild and wacky ideas coming to fruition!
